How does one become a perfect little girl? By playing with a doll of course! Whether
in papier mâché, in fabric or in plastic…
from the 19th century, dolls have been a model for little girls to imitate.
They have enabled them to discover sewing, knitting, putting together a wardrobe,
cooking… and have played a part in them learning good manners.
And still today, baby dolls etc. are still an important part of the world of
many children. The Musée de la Poupée gives the public the opportunity
to plunge into this world of « model » dolls.
Some one hundred of them, dating from 1840 to the present day are on show: dolls
inspired by the works of the Comtesse de Ségur to the many dolls from
the Maisons Huret, Jumeau, Raynal… and children’s magazines like
« La Semaine de Suzette », « Le jardins des Modes »…and
not forgetting the very latest creations. |
