The exhibition intends to take stock of the Venetian painting in the second half
of the sixteenth century, during which the artists of the lagoon make a unique
synthesis adapting mannerism in central Italy in their naturalistic vision of
the world.
After an introduction referring to the situation of painting in the metropolis
with the arrival of Véronèse (supremacy of Titian, Tintoretto
ascent) compared to what, in the work of the young artist of land, has attracted
the attention of sponsors who do come, the exhibition wants to show in a journey
of both chronological and thematic evolution of the lagoon painting after 1540.
Through a variety of common themes particularly dear to the Venetians of the
"Golden Century", will face the creations of the three major painters
of Venice until the end of the century ingenuity Titian, whose style of old
age rout by renewal constant, engineering Tintoretto dynamic, maturing art of
superhuman energy, engineering Véronèse decorative, whose palette
and Apollonian serenity fascinated all the artists to the twentieth century.

Ugo Rondinone : Sunrise East
Musée du Louvre
Opening : From the 2009-09-17 to the 2009-11-15Timing : Open daily from 9 am to 18 pm, except Tuesdays.
Night until 22 pm Wednesday and Friday
As part of the Festival d'Automne in Paris, the Louvre Museum invites contemporary
artist Ugo Rondinone to present an installation in the Jardin des Tuileries. Twelve
monumental sculptures in bronze patinated silver, representing the twelve months
of the year, are installed around a pool.
Sunrise East is composed of a set of enigmatic figures, each representing one
month of the year in an evocation of the cycle of seasons, of the eternal return
of the same and the inexorable passage of time. Their expressions are intriguing,
their monumentality is remote.
They continue the series of masks in which you guess the presence of the artist
in the guise of a clown disenchanted or, in the series of photographs I do not
live here anymore, a figure of fashion. His characters seem to spring poles
of a childhood dream or civilization disappeared forever. At once grotesque
and sublime, they come from sources as diverse as masks for non-Western civilizations
and the disguises for Carnival festivities. They also arise in the history of
art referring Surrealism research or plastic Picasso.
